IBCLC,LCCE,Birth Doula
I’m a mother of two, a birth doula, certified by DONA International, a Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator, and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, IBCLC in a private practice. I studied Perinatal Education at the Anahuac University in Mexico City.
I really love and enjoy my job, I believe that every woman deserves to be treated with respect and love. Moms need to feel safe, secure, confident and not judged or observed during labor, in that way the mother can flow and giving birth with confidence.
I have more than 22 years of experience and I truly believe that this is one of my missions in life. I’m as in love with my career as I was the first day.
I feel passionate about pregnant moms, births, Lamaze education and lactation support.
I got involved in this amazing journey when I was pregnant for the first time. I wanted to have as much information as I can to be ready and very well prepared to receive my babies and give them a beautiful and respected welcome to this world, so I attended Lamaze classes and it helped me a lot, brought me a lot of confidence and empowerment. I learned to conquer my fears and to follow my instincts. Listening to my body and being confident in my ability to give birth, I did it, I had two natural births!.
After that great experience, I felt empowered and that I had the strength to do anything, no matter how difficult it is. But at the same time I realized that women needs support, needs to be treated with respect and love, needs privacy and time to give birth, something I did not fully have.It would be nice if I had the support from my OB and that’s one of the reasons I decided to protect moms, babies and families and help them have an enjoyable experience, because you will have memories from your labor day the rest of your life and the baby as well.
Since that moment, I started to support my close friends, teaching them what I knew and supporting them during labor and lactation. But it was not until several years later that I started to volunteer as a doula (just because I felt the necessity and the passion to do that, but not knowing that I was fulfilling the occupation called ‘doula’) at Maternidad La Luz in El Paso, TX. This is a very special and magical place where I had the opportunity to learn a lot from midwifes and support many moms.
I volunteered for many years as a doula, childbirth educator and breastfeeding supporter before I got my birth doula, Lamaze and Lactation certifications.
I volunteered at The Baby Café since the day it opened its doors in 2008 until 2017.
